  1. The property- a lot of homes look good in pictures and at first glance. However it is always a good idea to take a closer look at the home you intend to buy don’t just settle for a quick tour of the place. Take the time to carefully check everything out. See that things are working properly and that there are no repairs to be done. If there is anything to be fixed make sure that it is done before you buy the home. Repairs can drive you way out of budget.
  2. The papers- many times buyers are surprised by additional fees that they have to pay. If you are buying a second hand home then it is very important that you check all the documents. There should be no outstanding bills or payments to be made on the home.
  3. The value- a common mistake that people make is buying a home for more than it is worth. They can be side tracked by a lot of things and end up paying more. To be sure that you don’t do this have the home professionally appraised. Also you may want to check out other homes in the market within the same location. This will give you a good idea of whether or not you are paying the right price.
